Halloween 2011

Boy's most favorite holiday!!!  Halloween!!  Daddy and Boy start frequenting Halloween stores AS SOON AS they start opening.  And Boy can hardle contain himself!!  He just LOVES it all!

*Boy was SOOOOO excited to buy a pumpkin and carve it.  As soon as we got home that's all he wanted to do.  So, I cut the top off of it, put it in front of him and thought "This is great....he'll do this while I work on dinner".  Not so lucky...he took one look (and smell) and said "That's gross, you do it!"

And this year....the costume of choice (his idea!)...a skeleton zombie!!

A couple days before Halloween we joined some friends for a Halloween festival.  No skeleton zombie here, he chose Batman!

Randomness

There is always the need for a random post with a bunch of random pictures!!

We recently met several of Daddy's fellow firefighters at a lake to hang out for the day.  Because the lake has been so low, there were dead fish and dead fish bones everywhere.  Ofcourse Boy thought it was the greatest thing ever!  I was completely grossed out!!

At the beginning of the summer, we got a fish.  Boy had been begging for a pet and we agreed on a fish.  He picked out a blue Beta and named him Fishie.  Well, unfortunately, Fishie has already died (Boy was soooo upset), but I want to make sure we remember him.

As each cold makes its rounds through our house we have the need for our dreaded nubulizer.  We dread it so much these days we have been trying to find creative ways to get it done!

Summer Fun

Okay, so I became slightly addicted to Pinterest over the summer, but Boy benefitted!  It gave us tons of fun ideas to try.  It was such a win-win because they were free or cheap, they were fun and provided lots of learning!

This started out as just frozen grape kabobs, but we weren't fans of frozen grapes, so we just made fruit kabobs!

I took a bunch of Boy's small toys and froze them in water in a cake pan.  The next morning he got to help them escape with a hammer!  Any excuse to beat something with a hammer is a good one!

Shaving colored with food coloring became cool bath paint!

A new box of crayons (back to school supplies sales rock!) became new homemade mini-muffin crayons!

Peanut-butter and Nutella "sushi"!

Schlitterbahn

Potnica and I took a little road trip this summer and headed to Schlitterbahn with the boys!  The last time we took a road trip they were just 2.  That was fun, but this time was a BLAST!! 

Not too many pictures because a water park is not the friendliest environment for a camera!  So the cell phone has to suffice.

We stopped around lunch time and met some friends from that area for lunch.  We ate at the coolest place that had a bunch of great restuarants surrounding a brand new park!  It was perfect!

And No, that is not ice cream on top, it is a scoop of icing!!

Boy's 4!!

I truly can't believe 4 whole years have already gone by!  Boy demanded requested that his party be at Chuck E. Cheese this year.  At first, I wasn't too keen on the idea, but let me tell you, it was BY FAR the easiest party we have done.  We showed up with cake and party favors and we left with presents.  We didn't cook, buy plates, clean-up, etc.  It was wonderful!!!

Lastly, the only crummy thing about turning 4 is getting a bunch of yucky shots, but as a bribe reward, Boy got to create his first Build A Bear after the shots.  Thank goodness there aren't any more shots until like 11 years old, so I have time to financially recover from this Build A Bear trip!

More Summer Road Trips!

We spent so much time this summer on the road exploring Texas!!

Daddy and I spent a week at a firefighter's convention.  It was so fun to get away and stay at one place for several days.  We were literally right across the street from a FABULOUS outlet mall.  While Daddy was in meetings most mornings I would first take advantage of the free breakfast buffet, then watch mindless TV (which I never get to do) and then I would head to the outlet mall.  Then as soon as Daddy got out of his meetings, we would shop together or head into Austin to eat and explore.  It was a great week!

The first night they had BBQ and a concert.

A famous cupcake stand we had to try!  I, ofcourse, was given a hard time because I ordered 2!  But in my defense I wanted to try both but didn't eat all of both!  Which Daddy thought was even more rediculous because we paid for 2 and I didn't eat them all!

Okay.  Now posting a picture of just me is not something I am a big fan of, but here's why I'm doing it.

#1 The hotel was really nice and new but the decor was crazy!  It was like right out of, I don't know, the late 70's...oranges, browns, golds, etc. and I wanted to show that here.

#2 I got this new outfit while we were there and I loved it!  So when our friends took our picture (above) they didn't get my whole outfit in the picture and I wanted all of it pictured!  So, what did I do, when we got back to the room, I set up my camera and the self timer and Wha-la....a picture of my whole outfit!

After the convention Daddy and I header Northwest to Aunt B's family lake house.  Luckily Neenan and his family were headed there the same day but from our area, so they picked up Boy on the way out of town and Boy met us there!!

We wanted him to kneeboard on his own, but we couldn't get him to go out there by himself so we tricked helped him get started.

And it worked...

He also loved the waverunner...jet ski...whatever they are called.

Renaissance Fair

This spring we headed to the local renaissance fair.  It was soooo fun! Boy LOVES knights and that time period entails!  He had been REALLY wanting a bow and arrow and we were so lucky to find a vendor there who sold great bows for kids that were perfect for kids to learn on.  He was ELATED to finally have his bow, arrows and quiver!

Then he wanted to make a wax hand.  The people were so nice and let him test it with his finger to see if he would be able to do it since it is pretty hot.  He decided he could handle it and he started it.  He was SOOOOOO patient because it took FOREVER.  You have to dip and wait and dip and wait and dip and wait......

Before we left he saw one of those trampoline with the bungee cords they strap to you.  He LOVED it.  The guy had him going SOOOO high.  People were stopping to watch because he was sooo little and sooo high.  The guy was soooo nice and taught boy how to do flips up there.  Needless to say....MawMaw was having a heart attack!

It was so fun!  We will definitely be back next year!

Last Minute Get-A-Way

A couple weeks ago, Daddy suggested we head out that day for a quick and last minute family vacation!  We literally were on the road 3 hours later!

First stop an aquarium that also had a ferris wheel and carousel.

A little background here...I am terrified of ferris wheels and Daddy is aware of this.  So here he is trying to scare me like its falling and he also spent most of the time shaking the dad-gum thing!  And look at this partner in crime, he thinks it's hilarious!!

Next stop....see some rockets...

Then to a boardwalk to ride some rides and cool off...

When the water would stop, he would put his little astronaut on the hole where the water came out and the astronaut would shoot in the air.  

We also went to the beach but my Canon told me she does NOT like the beach (all the sand gets in her curves and creases)!  So, we don't have any pictures of the beach.  But if there were pictures they would be pictures of Boy and Daddy throwing seaweed at me because I can't stand the seaweed and it freaks me out!  So they throw it at me, I SCREAM and they laugh!
